The eReader market is booming, with Amazon releasing an updated version of its device followed by bookseller Barnes & Nobel’s offering earlier this week. But one iPhone App is attempting to cover the same ground already.
The “Classics” app, designed for book lovers, offers a number of classic books for users to read from their smartphone rather than a dedicated device.
The books, which are all available freely under copyright laws, include titles such as The Odyssey, The Art of Way, The Count of Monte Cristo, Pride and Prejudice, The Time Machine, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Paradise Lost.
While the app, which costs $4, doesn’t offer as many titles as eReader apps such as Stanza or Kindle, it provides a good deal of entertainment that would cost much more in a bricks-and-mortar store.
