iPhone application developers are getting ready for the iPad, after Apple revealed the device would support new and more developed versions of iPhone apps.
It comes as Wired magazine announced it would develop a version of its publication for the iPad, to be released later this year.
App analytics firm Flurry said in a statement there had been a spike in the number of iPhone OS-based app projects.
“Developers integrating Flurry analytics into iPhone OS applications in January increased by nearly three times over December,” the company said in a blog post. “This represents the single largest spike in Flurry history, with over 1,600 new iPhone OS application starts for January.”
The iPad runs on the iPhone OS. The launch of the device could spark a massive jump in the number of apps on the App Store, with the store already hosting about 150,000 apps.
