Congressmen on the House of Representatives Privacy Caucus have requested tech company Apple explain a number of changes it recently made to its privacy policy.
The pair are concerned about recent reports suggesting users’ location data is being sent to third parties.
“Given the limited ability of Apple users to opt out of the revised policy and still be able to take advantage of the features of their Apple products, we are concerned about the impact the collection of such data could have on the privacy of Apple’s customers,” two members wrote in a letter sent to Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.
The Los Angeles Times first reported the change in the privacy policy. The company added a few lines that would allow “partners and licensees” to store and collect location data, but it specified that users must agree to those terms first.
