Software giant Microsoft has announced the latest version of its Office software will be available on the Mac platform in October with a starting price of $US119.

The announcement comes just after the company released its new Office suite, and is currently rolling it out to replace the previous 2007 version.

Microsoft said the “Office for Mac 2011” suite will be primarily targeted at business users, and will include the Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint programs.

Office suite sales make up about 90% of Business Division’s profits, so the company is fairly dedicated to marketing the suite as the latest and greatest business tool. A new deal will also allow users who buy Office for Mac until the release date to upgrade for free.
