Samsung has been constructing its Galaxy Tab with more features and components at a cheaper price than the Apple iPad, one research firm has said.
iSuppli has said the Galaxy Tab comes in at a total of $US205.22 to manufacture, much less than the $US264.27 cost of making the iPad.
“While the design approach makes the Galaxy less expensive to produce than the iPad 3G, it also makes for a product that lacks the same usability,” iSuppli analyst Andrew Rassweiler has said in a statement.
“The Galaxy Tab’s screen resolution, size and technology are not at the same level as the iPad. This is a critical difference, given the fact that the display is a key differentiating factor for the iPad.”
iSuppli noted several features in the Galaxy not contained in the iPad, including a particular systems sensor and a three megapixel auto-focus camera.
