Speculation regarding the inclusion of Skype into Facebook has grown, after an application developer spotted a piece of unused code in the website.
Tal Alter noticed the inclusion of a “VideoChat” object in the site’s code last week, fuelling speculation that soon users will be able to engage in video chat while on the social networking site.
Alter points out that the code contains several objects that refer specifically to Skype, and user IDs. He guesses the site is currently testing the feature with a group of users.
The rumour comes just after Facebook announced an upgrade to its messaging system that will allow users to communicate through different means including text messages and email from the same platform.
