It was cutting-edge technology in its time, and for more than £5,000 it could be yours.

A 75-year-old television, which is believed to be the oldest-working TV in Britain if not the world, is set to go under the hammer.

Engadget says the 12-inch Marconiphone 702 television contains 70% original parts, and can even receive digital channels via a Freeview box.

The TV has a 12-inch screen that is reflected on to a mirror in the lid.

It is reported that the development of the TV came out of secret military radar research.
