The New York Times has finally revealed its paywall scheme, with users being warned they will need to subscribe in order to view most content before it becomes protected at the end of the month.
But the NYT also announced that users who view up to 20 articles a month can do see for free, before they are asked to sign up to one of the deals.
Users can also visit links shared through social networking sites and blogs, as these won’t add up to the
Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger said in a statement the move will be introduced into Canada this week to “fine-tune the customer experience”.
The first package will cost $15 for a month, and give users access to the NYT website and a smartphone app. For a tablet app, the subscription will cost $20, while a full subscription for both apps and the website will cost $35.
The subscription packages will also be offered through iTunes.
