Although the iPhone 5 hasn’t even been announced yet, the rumours regarding the iPhone 6 have already begun.
AppleInsider has published a new report stating that Sharp will be responsible for manufacturing super thin screens for the 2012 smartphone.
The screens will be “next generation low-temperature poly-silicon LCD displays”, according to the report, with will result in a thinner and lighter design.
Japanese newspaper Nikkan has also reported that Sharp will begin manufacturing the displays next year, with equipment already being prepared.
The thinner design is also said to reduce battery dependency, as the screens can contain optical sensors and other circuits, rather than having them contained on other components.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5 later this year.
