Lockheed Martin admitted over the weekend it was the target of a cyber attack which could have potentially seen data containing information on new weapons systems, although it says the attack was stopped almost immediately.

The company said it was targeted by a “significant and tenacious” cyber attack, but confirmed no data was stolen.

“Our systems remain secure; no customer, program or employee personal data has been compromised,” a spokesperson said in a statement on the weekend.

The attack comes just weeks after security giant RSA was compromised, along with the massive Sony attack that crippled its PlayStation network.

The spokesperson also said the company is now “determining the extent of the incident, performing analysis of available data in order to provide recommendations to mitigate further risk”.
