Search giant Google offered Color, the app that allows smartphone users to share their photos, a massive $US200 million, according to a report from TechCrunch.

The report claims that Google was looking to buy the service before it had even launched.

Sources have informed the publication that Google offered to buy the service for $US200 million, but it was ultimately rejected by the company, which went on to raise over $US40 million in funding.

Color sparked a lot of interest when it first launched due to the sheer amount of funding it had received, but the hype surrounding the company has dwindled as it has lost two key executives.
