New reports have indicated the new version of iOS may feature a type of virtual assistant, seemingly confirming rumours that such a product was in development.

According to 9to5mac, a new “Assistant” feature has been put into a new update, with some code in the software development kit featuring references to an iPhone’s location and other data.

This code also reportedly features a type of speaker, which may hint at a type of voice integration system.

Such a product would coincide with the technology Apple bought from Siri earlier this year.

However, the report points out that the new feature has only just entered the testing phase.
