Online retailing giant Amazon is considering launching a type of library service for digital books through charging an annual fee.
According to the Wall Street Journal, executives have said they aren’t necessarily behind the plan as it could devalue current book prices.
The company has reportedly told publishers it is considering such a service with older titles, and that this would be available to Amazon Prime customers.
Publishers would receive a fee for becoming part of the scheme, but at this point it is unknown whether any of these companies have signed on, according to the report.
