Research In Motion and Dolby have avoided a lawsuit, creating a new licensing deal that will see RIM pay to use Dolby technology.

According to Reuters, both companies have come to an agreement and as a result, subsequent lawsuits have been abandoned.

Dolby reportedly moved to sue RIM in June for using a type of audio technology in its PlayBook tablet without licenses. Lawsuits were filed both in the United States and Europe and sought damages.

While both companies have come to an agreement, the terms of the deal have not been revealed.
