More than 50% of smartphones may have NFC within the next two to three years, according to a group of Taiwanese phone makers attributed to in a DigiTimes story.
Sources alluded to in the story have said that barring no technological hitches, NFC could see big growth in the next few years.
The comments come as a number of tech companies, including Google, have been doing more to include NFC type payments. Google has already released its Wallet function, which is accepted at a number of major retailers in the United States.
Separate rumours also suggest Apple is working on a new type of payments system with an iPhone built with NFC technology.
