Alibaba Group founder Jack Ma has demonstrated using facial recognition technology, rather than a PIN or password, to authenticate mobile and online payments.
The demonstration came at the end of a keynote speech by the Alibaba founder at the CeBIT computer conference in Germany on March 16. The technology was developed by Alipay, a mobile payments service spun out from Alibaba prior to its IPO.
According to a report on the Alibaba company blog, via the South China Morning Press and News.com.au, Ma said he is serious about the Chinese ecommerce giant using the technology.
Last week, after the conference, SmartCompany reported how Microsoft is adding biometric passwords, including facial recognition, to Windows 10.
