Vodafone’s 2G and 3G mobile networks have suffered another major equipment failure, causing disruptions to around 15% of Vodafone and Three customers across Australia last night.
The Age reports that the recent Melbourne heatwave caused an air-conditioning failure at the company’s Melbourne switch in Tullamarine.
The fault reportedly occurred at 7:45PM, with the company starting to restore services at around 11:45 PM.
“My understanding is that the air-conditioning has failed which has created an overheating in the switch and a failure as a result,” Vodafone spokesperson Karina Keisler told the Age.
“I believe it was caused by today’s extreme temperatures.”
