Microsoft has delivered a record Q3 result, with quarterly revenue up 6% year-on-year to $US17.41 billion, with an operating income of $US6.37 billion.
According to Ars Technica, the strong results were driven by 8% quarterly growth in the business PC market and 6% growth in the consumer PC market.
The results also included revenues of $US5.81 billion in Microsoft’s Business Division (up 9% year-on-year) and $US4.57 billion in its Server and Tools division (with year-on-year growth reaching 14%), more than offsetting a 16% decline in Entertainment and Devices.
The strong results come as the company prepares to launch its Windows 8 and Windows RT platforms later this year.
