Microsoft unveils Lumia smartphone suite at IFA

Microsoft Devices, formerly known as Nokia’s phone division, unveiled its latest batch of smartphones at IFA in Berlin, including the Lumia 730, Lumia 735 and Lumia 830.

The Lumia 830 features a 10-megapixel PureView camera with Zeiss optics, Rich Recording and the company’s thinnest optical image stabilisation system to date. Pre-loaded Microsoft services include Microsoft Office along with the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1.

It’s being billed as Microsoft’s affordable flagship smartphone.

The Lumia 730 and 735 are built for Skype and selfies, and aimed at consumers who want to “capture and share more”.

The smartphones feature a wide-angle, front facing 5-megapixel camera allowing people to take high-quality selfies and one tap Skype video call access.

All three devices will be the first on the market shipping with the Lumia Denim update, which combines the latest Windows Phone 8.1 update with exclusive experiences for Lumia smartphones.

The devices are expected to launch around the world sometime this month.

The pricing of each phone in Australia and New Zealand will be made available closer to its release date.
