More troubles for Microsoft: Windows RT tablet manufacturers reportedly experiencing performance issues

Companies building consumer tablet computers based on Microsoft’s forthcoming Windows RT platform are experiencing a number of difficulties developing hardware, according to reports.

KitGuru cites “sources in Taipei” claiming that hardware developers are grappling with compatibility concerns and performance issues on their ARM-based Windows RT tablets.

The sources claim that the devices feel “sluggish” when compared to more powerful x86-based professional tablet devices running Windows 8.

Echoing recent public statements by Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing, there are concerns within hardware manufacturers about the possibility of Microsoft’s consumer Surface tablet undercutting Windows RT tablets from third-party manufacturers.

Last week, SmartCompany revealed just four hardware manufacturers would make tablets running Windows RT, alongside the Microsoft surface, after HP and Toshiba abandoned the platform.
