MYOB’s PayDirect mobile payment platform now takes EFTPOS

MYOB has added support for EFTPOS payments through its PayDirect mobile payments device.

PayDirect is a square-shaped credit card reader that uses Bluetooth to connect to an iPhone or Android smartphone running the PayDirect app, which can be downloaded from the Apple or Google Play app stores.

Once set up, small businesses can enter the payment amount in the app, before accepting payment using the card reader, while the receipt can be automatically sent to a customer via SMS or email.

While there is no monthly fee for using the service, MYOB does charge $199 for the card reader, along with a 27 cents per transaction ETPOS fee and a 1.77% credit card fee.

In its terms of use, the accounting software giant also reserves the right to change the fee amounts or introduce a new fee with 20 business days’ notice.

“MYOB is committed to making PayDirect the best solution in the market. No annual subscription fees make it really easy to get up and running and with reduced merchant transaction fees, our customers can keep more of the money they make,” said MYOB general manager of SME solutions James Scollay in a statement.
