Nokia has released a new photo sharing service for its Windows Phone 8-based Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones.

According to Nokia’s Conversations blog, users can download the Photo Beamer app from the Windows Phone Store.

Once downloaded, when users use the app to view a picture n their gallery, they are prompted to visit photobeamer.com in the web browser of another device, such as an internet-enabled TV or desktop PC.

By pointing their phone camera at the QR code on the website, the photobeamer.com website automatically displays the photo the user is looking at in the app.

Nokia acquired the technology for the photo sharing service through a recent takeover of software development firm Scalado.
