Gear Diary reported on Friday that a 10-person line had formed outside the Apple store for the week-long wait to get an iPhone, but judging by the photos the line has grown a fair bit since then.
There appears to be some question over just how genuine the queuers are, however, with some reports suggesting they care less about the iPhone than setting a world record for time in a line, and others that they are there for some kind of political stunt.
Whatever their purposes, the fact that people are lining up a week before the iPhone is released yet again highlights the very big hype surrounding this very small consumer product.
Although it’s not the first release and ample supply is expected, a queue has reportedly begun outside of Apple’s Fifth Avenue retail store to buy iPhone 3G a full week before its release.
