Samsung deny their smart TVs “spy”

Samsung has responded to concerns about security concerns about its 2012 smart TVs.

In a statement issued to MSNBC the company points out that video data used for video conferencing is encrypted and that the built in camera and microphone can be deactivated by the end users.

The company also points out that any photographs used for facial recognition will be stored solely on the TV and won’t be shared with the cloud.

The news comes after concerns were raised about the security and privacy implications of the “smart” features of the new TV.
