Samsung is investigating the possibility of using wireless charging for its forthcoming Galaxy S3 smartphone, according to reported leaks from the Korean electronics company.

AndroidAuthority is reporting that the Korean smartphone maker is looking at introducing wireless charging for its next Android handset, potentially over a distance of up to two metres, subject to cost.

Inductive charging, also known as wireless charging, uses induction coils and electromagnetic fields to transfer energy between two objects without the two objects needing to be connected by a physical wire.

The news follows rumours that Samsung are also examining using an Exynos quad-core processor, including support for 4G LTE, and switching to a ceramic case for the Galaxy S3.
