Teenagers in the US still prefer social media website Facebook over Twitter, according to a recent survey.

According to a survey of 7,700 teenagers in the US, conducted by market research firm Piper Jaffray and republished in The Wall Street Journal, Facebook ranked as the most important social networking hangout, followed by Twitter and Facebook-owned photo-sharing site Instagram.

However, the survey shows teens are also increasingly hostile towards online games on social media websites, such as those created by Zynga.

A second survey, conducted by market research firm Sterne Agee, of more than 750 Facebook users in the US reveals that average 18-29-year-old users are spending as much time today on Facebook as they did six months ago, despite an increase in the number of ads.
