A telecommunications analyst believes Microsoft is set to gain 17% of the smartphone market next year on the back of its Windows Phone software.
According to the China Post, Market Intelligence Centre analyst Chang Chi says Windows will control 17% of the market, with Android leading at 38%
Chi also predicts that Symbian and iOS will hold 23% and 18% of the market respectively.
The analyst also says that with RIM remaining stagnant, manufacturer HTC will surpass the company and become the fourth biggest maker in the world.
The prediction comes alongside similar forecasts from analysts who believe Windows Phone will expand market share as it comes installed on Nokia devices.
